Bringing Church to the Community

Church services at the Grenoch and Kanangra aged-care facilities in Deloraine form an important part of Westbury Baptist’s outreach ministry. Mark Leonard leads the services, with Dorothy Leonard playing the organ or keyboard. Whenever possible, other church members also attend to support the services and spend time with the residents.

The services are held on Thursday mornings at 10:00am and 11:00am, on a rotational basis with other local churches. However, Mark and Dorothy are also often called upon to lead additional services when others are unavailable.

Each service is relaxed and informal and lasts for approximately half an hour. During this time, residents have the opportunity to join in worship, request personal prayer and enjoy a friendly chat with members of the church afterwards.

In addition to the regular services, Mark and Dorothy also lead singalongs when requested, as well as the annual Christmas carol singing. These occasions are thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by the residents, with other church members joining in whenever possible.
