Lament in Lent: Standing with Country and Creation
Thursday, 3 April, 10:30AM – 2:30PM
As part of the Lenten journey, the Uniting Church National Assembly is inviting people across to a sacred act of lament and solidarity with First Nations people and the natural world.

This special vigil, held in collaboration with The Bob Brown Foundation and Stand with Uncle Jim, will be a time to activate what organisers call “holy hope by being love in action”.
Participants will be invited into a sacred space to demonstrate solidarity with creation, supporting one of the planet’s most vital life forces — Tasmania’s old growth forests.
Aunty Alison Overeem, a respected Christian Elder, continues her powerful work in building relationships with church leaders through cultural awareness and training.

Respite Foster Carers needed
Across the state Fostering Hope needs more respite carers to offer extended family for children and young people growing up in out of home care. Respite care offers a huge support for carers and children. The expectation is usually one weekend a month and some school holiday time. If you could be a respite carer please contact Mary at Fostering Hope.
Foster Care Sunday
SAVE THE DATE for Sunday, 14 September 2025, to host a Foster Care Sunday in your church. Fostering Hope and the National Foster Care Sunday Network are praying this year even more churches will do something on this date.
Foster Care Sunday is an opportunity to annually pray for children and young people, their birth families, their carers, and everyone working in the system. And to do something practical by raising awareness of this need right here in Australia.
Australia is losing more carers every year, meaning children are going into residential care situations. Fostering Hope still believes that Christians living out their faith locally by caring for at-risk children could be the answer to this crisis.
Videos and resources coming out soon and you can check out last year’s great videos here.
North West Mentoring Coordinator
The Team are also currently advertising for a North West Mentoring Coordinator to begin the mentoring program in the north west.
