Where Friendship Happens

Penguin Chat n Choose began in February 1992 and, at its peak, welcomed 100 attendees. The weekly devotion was greatly valued, while a well-run crèche allowed young mums to attend, and the trade table enabled the group to support various charities.

We were also privileged to host a group of people with disabilities who enjoyed a range of crafts, including cooking. Some of the more unusual activities included making beautiful footstools from large Milo tins and learning practical skills such as how to change a tyre, replace windscreen wipers and change tap washers.

The group also created two large wall hangings for the church.

But the real beauty of ‘Chat’ lies in the acceptance of one another and the opportunity to provide support when needed beyond the scheduled sessions.

The current Co-ordinator would like to thank all the participants and supporters who, over the years, have made ‘Chat’ the wonderful community group it is today, accessible to everyone.
