The Leadership Development Cohort exists to identify, encourage and equip emerging leaders across Tasmanian Baptist churches. Whether you’re already serving in leadership or sensing God may be calling you into greater responsibility, this cohort provides a unique opportunity to grow in character, capability and influence alongside others on a similar journey.
More than a training course, the Leadership Development Cohort is a learning community where experienced and emerging leaders come together to learn, reflect and encourage one another.
Why Join?
The Church is ministering in a rapidly changing world shaped by technology, social media and artificial intelligence. We need leaders who are biblically grounded, resilient and equipped for lifelong ministry.
The Leadership Development Cohort serves as an “engine room” for Tasmanian Baptist churches, helping develop leaders who will strengthen our churches for years to come.
Participants will:
› Grow in leadership, character and ministry effectiveness.
› Engage thoughtfully with contemporary cultural challenges.
› Develop excellence in preaching and ministry practice.
› Build meaningful relationships with other emerging leaders.
› Cultivate habits of self-reflection and lifelong learning.
What to Expect
Each gathering combines theological reflection, practical ministry development and authentic community.
Sessions include:
› Input from experienced ministry leaders.
› Small group discussion and reflection.
› Opportunities to present and receive constructive feedback, particularly in preaching.
› Honest conversations that build trust, encouragement and accountability.
Participants from the inaugural cohort described the experience as trust-building, future-focused, encouraging and transformative.

› Emerging leaders in Tasmanian Baptist churches.
› Ministry apprentices and interns.
› Current leaders seeking continued development.
› Men and women exploring future pastoral or ministry leadership.
