Hobart Baptist Church: 4 Baptisms expanding the church family!

On Sunday 9th August, Hobart Baptist Church rejoiced as four young people were baptised before the congregation — a joyful reminder of what God is doing in our midst. Aged between 16 and 22, these four are already active, engaged members of our church family, each carrying remarkable gifts and potential. Among them are a Medical student, a student of Psychological Science, and two still completing school – aspiring to be a Civil Engineer and the other, either a Journalist or Lawyer — all vey bright, thoughtful young people with much to offer the church now and in the years ahead.

Each shared a heartfelt testimony of their journey to Christ, clearly confessing Him as Saviour and Lord, and each time the church committed, with God’s help, to  walking the road of discipleship together. 

As they were being baptised, the music team led us in “I Surrender All.”Margaret Elderidge, an influential older lady, prayed that the whole church would embrace and celebrate these four, and continue to encourage them in the faith. Wah Lay, a matriarch of our Burmese Karen community, prayed in her language for their strength and ongoing discipleship.

The number of Hobart Baptist  youth  has now grown, with  around 35 attending School holiday events. Even more encouraging is that many within that number are showing great promise. More baptisms are planned for September 13th and an additional service in October.

An Elder at HBC reflected: “What the Lord is doing amongst us is powerful and deeply encouraging — we are simply responding to His work and excitedly looking to the future.”
