Life in a Day
Last night I watched A Life in a Day 2020 | The story of a single day on earth. Thousands of contributors recorded clips on 25th July last year, which were compiled into this 1 hour 25 minute movie.
I was both enthralled and saddened by what I saw. And I appreciated again the beauty and blessing we share in our island state. What a crazy privilege to live in Tasmania!
Our heart-shaped island is the inspiration behind the name of this e-news, HEARTLANDS.
But more, it's the idea we can talk about the things of our hearts. It's a safe place to think, ponder and reflect on the good and the bad; the peace and the mess; the beautiful and the ugly parts of our lives. It's a bit like that movie! The difference for us, though, is that we view the struggles of life through a lens of faith and hope.
As the writer of Lamentations said:
I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall.
I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me.
Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:
Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3: 19-23
Amen to that!
