Gathering Together Across the River

Twice this year, Perth and Longford Baptist Churches have enjoyed the opportunity to gather together for worship, fellowship, and encouragement. Building on a decision made some years ago to strengthen the connection between the two churches, the congregations have continued the practice of meeting together during months with five Sundays.

In March, the combined service was held at Perth Baptist Church, while the most recent gathering took place at Longford Baptist Church on 31 May. Both occasions provided valuable opportunities to worship Jesus together, pray, share in a short message, and enjoy the generous hospitality offered by each congregation.

The March gathering included a time of worship, sharing, and reflection on God’s goodness. In May, there was a special reunion as three members of the worship team led together for the first time in 20 years, having previously served alongside one another in another church. The message challenged those present to keep Jesus first in all they do and to consider whether people see Jesus when they look at their lives and their churches.

These gatherings have been a great encouragement to both congregations, and there is growing momentum to make them a more regular occurrence. It is hoped that others from across the wider Baptist family may also join future gatherings as relationships continue to deepen and a shared faith in Christ is celebrated together.
