Spread the love

Tony & Kathy Fogarty

After more than 40 years of faithful involvement at Burnie Baptist Church, Tony and Kathy Fogarty have farewelled their church family as they begin a new chapter in Perth.

For decades, Tony and Kathy have been part of the fabric of Burnie Baptist, serving in countless ways and often quietly carrying the practical responsibilities that help a church keep going. From office administration and building maintenance to many other areas of service, their contribution has been significant and deeply appreciated.

Their farewell service on Sunday 16 August was a special occasion. Memories, photographs and stories brought back many moments from their years together, along with plenty of tears, hugs and words of gratitude. The congregation signed a card and presented flowers as expressions of their love and appreciation. Rodney represented Tasmanian Baptists, while Deirdre shared on behalf of Burnie Baptist.

After 20 years in their home, Tony and Kathy have now moved to the lovely township of Perth. They are looking forward to finding a new church family and making new friendships. Reflecting on their years at Burnie Baptist, Kathy said they had always felt they were “part of a family” and simply did what families do—supporting one another and helping to carry the load.

Their final Sunday was marked by lunch with long-time friends, many of whom will remain part of their lives through Burnie Baptist. As they look ahead, Tony and Kathy are trusting God to guide them, confident that “God has been with us throughout this new journey, so He will continue to bless us wherever He takes us.”

We give thanks to God for Tony and Kathy, for their many years of faithful service, and for the countless ways they have blessed the Burnie Baptist family. We pray that God will provide a new church home, guide them in this next chapter, and continue to bless them richly.

We also pray for the Burnie Baptist family as they adjust to the absence of two much-loved members, trusting that the God who has faithfully led Tony and Kathy will continue to lead and strengthen the church in the days ahead.
