Pastoral Leadership

Pastoral leadership both of the State-wide Association (BUT) and of local congregations is highly valued by our churches.  Apart from their specific congregational responsibilities, such leaders also have a significant representative role in relation to sister denominations and with the community as a whole.  Our pastoral leaders express mutual support and encouragement as participants in the Pastors and Families Association and in regional get-togethers from time to time.

Pastoral leaders appointed by local churches are normally either recognized or accredited by the Baptist Union through a process administered by Pastoral Committee.

This includes formal application with the support of the particular congregation where the pastor is serving, acceptance of the Code of Ethics, and appropriate professional development and supervision provisions similar to other State Unions.
